From the spacious to the intimate, the UCSC Arboretum provides a world of choices for your wedding celebration. The gardens are home to amazing flora from California, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand and Chile. The gardens provide the perfect backdrop for a truly unique wedding setting. Celebrate your special day amid the unmatched beauty and diversity of the world's meditteranean-climate plants.

The Australian Gardens

A garden path at night The Australian Garden contains colorful examples of Australia's beautiful and diverse plant life. With the largest collection of these plants outside of their homeland, the garden has broad open spaces with the Australian Alpine Rock Garden and a mature redwood grove as a backdrop. Hummingbirds — abundant throughout the Arboretum — are especially plentiful in this area.

Australian Picnic Area

Located at the northern edge of the Australian Garden's Banskia Field, the Australian Picnic Area has ample shade and a view of the open meadows and woods of the lower UCSC campus.

Owl House

Perfect for a small ceremony, the rustic "Owl House" sits above the Fragrance Garden and provides a glimpse of Monterey Bay.

South African Garden

The South African Garden
The South African Garden

Have your ceremony next to an exotic silver tree or some shrubs laden with bright feathery flowers. The South African Garden is an intimate area for a ceremony. It is home to some of the word's most beautiful and unusual flowers, shrubs, and trees.

The Lower and Upper Patios

Wedding in the Rock Garden

The lower patio during the Arboretum's annual Hummingbird Days.

The patios comprise a flat area on two levels, close to facilities. The lower patio is paved and partially shaded by trellises. The patios are well suited for wedding ceremonies and may be rented in conjunction with other areas for receptions.

The Eucalyptus Grove

Eucalyptus Grove Eucalyptus Grove

This spacious grove of mature eucalyptus trees frames a view of the meadows of the lower UCSC campus with a glimpse of Monterey Bay as a backdrop. Suitable for larger gatherings, the Eucalyptus Grove contains the Arboretum's earliest plantings, dating back 50 years. It is separate from the other Arboretum gardens and has its own parking area.

The Horticulture Building

Indoor venue: Hort II Indoor venue: Hort II

An Arboretum reception in Hort. II

"Hort II" is the Arboretum's indoor event facility, located next to the patios. It has an open floor plan and can seat up to 100 people.
